A friend of my wife made this statement on Facebook: Christ Offers Victory In Disease. We are praying for her and her daughter because both of them have been diagnosed with Covid-19. They are both placing their faith for deliverance in Jesus Christ and believe that they will both emerge victorious and alive with nothing worse than mild symptoms from the experience. I believe they are placing their trust in the only true hope for deliverance and we are all looking forward to their complete recovery with little or no symptoms.
Proverbs 3: 5, 6 “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”
I recently went through a season of trouble that ended only last month. The past week has seen a return of tribulation in a different manner. That is the way of dealing with the Adversary of God against His people. He will always go away for a season. The question is: How long will that season be? In my case, the season lasted only a mere four weeks. I’ve had to deal with income loss, auto and home repairs, computer failure, and now health issues. For the last week, I’ve had to deal with a broken filling that exposed a nerve. The dentist has to do a root canal and crown to save the tooth and allow me to live without pain. Today is the first day in the last nine that I’ve been pain free and that is due to anti-biotics. For the last ten days, I’ve only had one verse on my mind in the midst of the pain.
3 John 1: 2 “Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.” (bold added)
I know that God’s will for all of His children is for all of us to be in health. We may not always show it, but that still doesn’t make it any less true. It’s one prayer we can all do for anyone in the family of God whether or not they belong to our fellowship, church, or denomination. We can always be praying for God to give all of us good health. Your prayers for the same outcome will be greatly appreciated. In return, I believe that God’s grace will abound towards you.
2 Corinthians 9: 8 “And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:”
There is no doubt that Christ will always lead us to victory in disease. He will always point us to the way of deliverance. Sometimes it will require the help of science and doctors. Other times it will require His direct intervention. In every case, it requires prayer for us to tell Him what we need. Then we need to listen for His answer, and act upon that answer. That is as hard as it gets to obey God: prayer, listen, and obey. All too often, our first action is no longer to ask God anything.
We’ve become so smart in our own wisdom and science that we’ve cut God completely out of our daily lives. Why ask God for answers to a toothache? Maybe the answer is a direct spiritual attack without a physical cause at all. Then you have to address the toothache directly to leave in the name of Jesus Christ. But what if the toothache is caused by a broken filling? Then you need to have the filling replaced. What about a hidden cavity? Don’t you think that God will let you know that too? You know that he knows our lives and our bodies better than we do ourselves. The answer may be “Go to the dentist and get your tooth fixed.” As a last resort, (especially if you have really good pain tolerance), is to get your tooth removed. You could ignore God altogether. You could even avoid the dentist altogether. Just put up with the pain until the tooth falls out or you are able to pull it out yourself. In any case, God will never over ride your free will decision for the course you want to take for your deliverance. In my case however, I lost the filling in October but had no pain. I knew I needed to go to the dentist, but held out as long as I was able to hold out. When the pain started, I went to the dentist the very next day. (I have no pain tolerance at all. Just ask my wife.)
Did I know in October that I needed to see the dentist? Yes I did. But do you remember what was happening to me in October? I chose to trust God that all of the problems of the month would be taken care of in His order of importance. That is how my faith in Him works and appears. Frankly, I forgot all about my tooth and the lost filling. It’s getting taken care of now. Just in time for Christmas. So that’s my life. It’s always interesting. I know that I will always have to overcome problems of some kind. Some of those problems are due to life choices. Some of those problems are due to the actions of others. And some of those problems are outright spiritual attacks that try to get me to question God’s love for me. Problems are not a sign of God’s displeasure but of my own weakness and Satan’s displeasure because I know I am a child of the most high God. But because I choose to remove any reason that gives Satan power over my life, I choose to accept the fact that I cause most of my own problems by my own decisions.
The problems of life are not the issues to dwell upon. It’s God’s deliverance. Who do I turn to first for answers, when I’m faced with a problem? Do I trust in my own intelligence? If so, then I am my own god and I’ve forgotten Prov. 3: 5, 6. If I’m not feeling well, do I immediately run to the doctors without going to God first? Then I’ve made science my god and have forgotten 3 John 1: 2. If I’ve lost my job, do I run to the want ads first or pray to God for help? If I look for work without God’s help, am I making my job my sufficiency? Then I’ve forgotten 2 Cor 9: 8. The message of the world is simple. We don’t need God at all. In one respect, the world is correct. But why would we willfully choose to keep God out of our lives when keeping Him involved proves His love over and over? When we keep God in front of our eyes, He leads us to the best path of deliverance.
Being a Christian doesn’t guarantee a trouble free life. If you are having a trouble free life, maybe you need to check out how close you are to the God you say you serve and love. Lucifer has no problems with a minister or child of God that does nothing. He only hates those who are committed and try to reach others. Persecution and tribulations only follow those who love God and try to reach others with the Gospel message of salvation, spiritual wholeness, and the walk of faith in Jesus Christ. Everyone will have to deal with trials and tribulations. Where do you seek your answers from first? To whom do you place your trust and allegiance? Do you seek to be righteous before men or God? The answers to these three simple questions will reveal the direction of your true allegiance and trust.
Matthew 6: 33 “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”
Deliverance, prosperity, and good health are added blessings from God as we seek His righteousness first. Too many of us have forgotten this one simple truth. Blessings from God follow after obedience to His Word. Walking in faith is the only way to please Him. We can only hope to receive His deliverance as we obey His written Word and personal spiritual revelation in our lives. When we do this, we are proving our faith in Him alone and He is pleased. It is because we please God when we place our faith in him that allows us to come boldly before the throne of grace and expect help in our time of need.
Hebrews 4: 16 “Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.”
Through Christ, we are saved. In salvation, we receive the Holy Spirit. By the Holy Spirit, we are able to hear God directly. As we hear God directly and obey His revelation Word, we are able to please Him. Because we please God, He offers mercy and grace to help in our time of need. Then finally, as we experience His help over and over in our time of need, our faith in Him is strengthened. Our trust in the power and riches of the world weakens. We know we are His children. We know He loves us and cares for us. We are able to witness His delivering power against any ungodly force working against us whether physical or spiritual. So now we can return to the original sentence of this blog.
A friend of my wife made this statement on Facebook: Christ Offers Victory In Disease.
- Christ- by way of our salvation.
- Offers- because of our faith in Him.
- Victory- for help in our times of need.
- In- any situation or:
- Disease- the greatest and closest trials affecting our lives.
C.O.V.I.D. is something to be respected, but in Christ, not a thing to be feared. We are not of this world, but heavenly. We are not citizens of this world, but of heaven. This world is not our home, but only a training ground for us to learn how to walk with God in all we say and do. Aren’t you glad that He doesn’t expect us to be perfect at all? He knows we are weak. He knows we will make mistakes. Yet He loves us because He also knows, we are trying to know Him and please Him better and better each and every day we live. As members in particular in the family of God, keep our friend’s in your prayers so that they too will experience God’s deliverance in their time of Covid-19 crisis. If you want to improve your personal relationship with God so that you too can recognize His voice in your life, check out this book below and get your library to get one in its collection.
