Word wise or world wise.

The hardest thing for every individual to realize is that religion is powerless and worldly in nature. When Karl Marx declared war against God, he was comparing Christian religion against Satanic power. He had attended Satanic worship services with his college friends and witnessed spiritual power. Like many Christian young adults today, he had no answer why the God of Christian religion was so silent and powerless. This was the very same question I asked my Lutheran pastor when I was twelve years old in Confirmation class. After almost an hour of discussion, the answer to the question was: “You have to take it by faith, that our God is more powerful than the Devil.”

The Word teaches of a personal relationship between God and His chosen people. A personal relationship implies direct communication. So God cannot be a silent God if the Bible is the Truth. Karl Marx witnessed Satanic communication. It may have been a seance, and it may have also required a medium, but it was audible communication from the spirit realm to the physical realm. This is something that he could never experience in the Christian church. By the way, Karl Marx was a Christian. Most of us have only been told that he was raised Jewish. That was only part of the truth. In order to avoid persecution in Marx’s native Germany, the entire family converted to Christianity when he was a child. Marx was raised Lutheran from a young age so he knew Christian doctrine as well as Jewish.

He knew that using or visiting someone that uses familiar spirits was forbidden by Jewish law and against Christian tradition. What he couldn’t reconcile in his life was why God was powerless, but Satan was powerful. The truth was that Karl Marx never had a personal, spiritual relationship with God. He knew the doctrines and practices of the church, but he did not know the voice of God in his heart. At the age of twelve, I also realized that something was drastically wrong with my religious experience. It did not agree with the promise of a spiritual relationship that the Word of God showed.

When the doctrine of the church is the only focus of religious instruction, spiritual power is rejected as devilish, and God is only a silent partner in life, we have a worldly God of religion. Our God becomes no different from any other god worshiped by any other religious belief in the world. Religion reduces the active presence and power of the True God to the mere practice of rituals, chants, and prayers. Simply reading the Word of God exposes this dichotomy. Then, when devilish power is experienced, religion is truly exposed as a powerless lie. So Karl Marx was set up to fail when he had to choose between worldly, powerless religion and Satanic power. If the display of spiritual power is the only determining factor that divides spiritual truth from spiritual lies, then Christian religion is bound to fail. Unfortunately, some of the people who attended Confirmation class with me, have chosen the same path that Marx did. They have rejected the teachings of the church and left Christian religion altogether.

What these people and Karl Marx never realized, is that the Word of God alone teaches how to release the power of God in the believer’s life. Christian doctrine frames the boundaries of membership. Biblical Truth exposes devilish doctrines that reduce the presence and power of God available for the believer to tap into. Devilish doctrines present within Christian traditions have given us all a watered down form of diluted spiritual sounding confessions and an empty prayer life. Devilish doctrines have made God silent and defenseless against devilish power in open display. This is the state of the world and worldly wisdom, a.k.a. “religion.”

We have to individually make an active choice to believe the wisdom of God revealed in the written Word first in order to activate the power of God in our lives. To the degree that we choose to remain fearful of action according to our best understanding of the Word of God, we will keep ourselves bound to the doctrines and traditions of a church that has been infected with devilish lies. When we choose to act explicitly upon the promises of God found in His Word, we become active participants in the spiritual war waging against mankind. Satan wants to keep control of his property. The property given to him by Adam. But when we choose to act upon the revealed light of Truth, God releases His power into our lives and our eyes are opened and we are no longer blinded by darkness.

It’s simply a choice to act upon the wisdom of the Word and rejecting the wisdom of the world. What’s your choice?
